A Chaffee man was charged Friday with driving while intoxicated, resisting arrest, obstruction, disorderly conduct and numerous traffic violations.
Azariah J. Schwartz of Olean Road was observed around midnight Thursday swerving his vehicle into oncoming traffic near Chaffee-Curriers Road, according to Erie County sheriff’s deputies. When a deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, it continued south on Olean Road, and Schwartz drove behind a plaza in the area.
A subsequent field sobriety test found Schwartz to be intoxicated. After the test, deputies said Schwartz became belligerent and confrontational. He was subdued with a taser and taken to the Erie County Holding Center pending an arraignment in Town of Sardinia Court.
