Hamburg
The Town Board has extended the moratorium on digital signs for another six months. The board placed a moratorium on the electronic variable signs in November while the Zoning Code Review Committee updated regulations. But the committee needs more time to draft new rules.
Lawmakers decided to take a look at the regulations because many of the signs require variances from the Zoning Board of Appeals. Some variances are for setback distances, while others allow more than one sign within 1,000 feet of each other.
Meanwhile, the board has approved borrowing $1 million toward the $2 million reconstruction of the Hamburg Senior Community Center on Southwestern Boulevard. Financing was bundled with other capital sewer and water projects in a $6.83 million bond anticipation note.
