A 21-year-old Hartwell Road man who terrorized a truck driver last month while free on bail for the violent mugging of a Buffalo Performing Arts Academy student two years ago faces a prison term of up to 50 years on his guilty pleas Monday in both crimes, according to Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III .
Martellion Ham, in custody since his arrest shortly after the truck driver incident on Walden Avenue just before 2 a.m. April 2, pleaded guilty as charged to first and second-degree robbery in both crimes before Senior Erie County Court Judge Michael L. D’Amico.
The district attorney said Ham pleaded guilty to the highest charges he faces at trial for both the Dec. 2, 2012 mugging of a 17-year-old Performing Arts Academy student near that school and for the armed robbery of money from a truck driver who stopped to assist him in the 800 block of Walden Avenue on April 2.
The truck driver told police Ham shoved a pistol into his face after he stopped to help him and threatened to kill him if he did not give him all his money.
Assistant District attorney Danielle Soluri, who persecuted the cases, said Ham faces sentencing June 6. The judge remanded him to jail pending sentencing.
