Buffalo high in the 20s? Seems like forever

Seems like forever since the temperature was in the 20s, like it will be today.

Turns out the last time it was this warm was – Monday.

“We have short memories,” agreed National Weather Meteorologist Tom Paone. “It seems a lot worse.”

After the past three days, it seems like forever.

But the high Monday was 30 degrees, and Sunday’s high was 28, he said.

A southerly flow of air will push our temperatures into the mid and upper 20s today, he said. It’s a welcome shift from the single digits and wind that produced bitter wind chills earlier this week.

“It still will be a little bit breezy today, it still will put a bit of chill in the air,” he said.

Friday’s high may reach 32 degrees or just a little bit higher, and there could be rain, or a mix of rain and snow by Saturday.

The month has been marked with up-and-down weather, with large swings in temperatures, Paone said. And we did have our share of days with highs in the single digits or teens, but it seems we got out of practice with dealing with the cold.

“This is really closer to average or normal, than compared to what we’ve had the last two years,” he said of the low temperatures.
