Temperature may rise to double digits, but winds will be bone-chilling

The thermometer once again hit zero overnight for Buffalo - even lower in areas away from metro area - prompting the closings of dozens of schools for another day on Wednesday.

And though the temperature is expected to rise to double digits today for the first time since 5 p.m. Monday, strong winds will keep the wind chill factor well below zero.

“Anybody away from the main urban areas likely was below zero," Tom Paone, meterologist for the National Weather Service, said of the overnight lows,

He said temperatures are expected to warm up to about 10 to 15 degrees later today but winds of 35 to 40 mph will keep the wind chill to about 5 to 10 below zero,
