Orchard Park Village Mayor John Wilson and town Supervisor Patrick Keem will team up to deliver a “State of Orchard Park” address next month.The town and village are taking the step to promote “transparency and accountability of government as well as enhancing communication between local government and the community it serves,” according to the announcement of the meeting.
Wilson, Keem and members of the village and town boards will be on hand for the address at 7 p.m. Feb. 12 in the board room of the municipal building. They will give an assessment of current services and programs, achievements and challenges, as well as identifying priorities, ideas and goals for the coming year.
One of Keem’s platforms was to increase communication between the two levels of government.
After the address, residents can tour town and village offices, which are located in the municipal center.
Also this week:
• The Village Board will conduct a meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in the municipal center, 4295 S. Buffalo St. A public hearing on changes to the peddlers’ and solicitors’ licenses will be conducted.
• The Town Board will hold a work session at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the supervisor’s conference room. The board plans to go into executive session with the town’s auditor to discuss the annual audit, potential areas of litigation, specific conditions of employment for specific employees and to interview candidates for the Senior Services Task Force.
• The Southtowns Family YMCA is gearing up for the upcoming winter break by offering Vacation Club from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 17-21. Children will take part in a wide variety of activities including swimming, gym time, various games, arts and crafts, and more. Children will need to bring a bag lunch, bathing suit, and towel. Pre-registration is required.
